Spellbinders – Game Review
Why are we enchanted by Spellbinders? We like shiny things and this game sparkles. Spellbinders is a lane based strategy game where you throw unit after unit into the fray to battle an opponent to the death. Intelligent use of unique spells or the correct placement of a unit will decide the winner when your heroic minion inflicts the last point of damage with his last breath.
Polished – They really brushed the shoe polish on this game. It looks very clean and everything flows well. Menus and buttons are natural to use and easy to navigate. We also appreciate that the game mechanics are simple enough to be easily employed on a smart phone but elegant enough to make it feel like you’re actually important to the outcome of a match.
Tutorial – This game is easy to play because of the great depth of the tutorial and intuitive nature of the gameplay. We didn’t encounter a thing that confounded us and we certainly never felt like the tutorial was patronizing us like the man-sized-children we are. A well balanced education on how to play the game left us feeling neither snubbed for our lack of understanding nor over-educated on things we were already proficient with.
Free-2-Play – This game is free to play with the option for in app purchases. We’re frugal people and we love a game where we can trade in our time instead of our dime.
Multiplayer – While this game is online multiplayer we haven’t yet found a way to challenge a friends to a 1v1 duel. It would seem you are only able to compete with random foes with a similar rank to your own. Being able to subject friends and family repeatedly to bitter defeat would have made this game considerably more enjoyable.
Double Up – By viewing ads you can acquire extra runes which allows you to play this game entirely for free if you’re willing to put in some extra play time to earn them.
Pay-with-ads – Want more goodies? Watch an ad whenever you’d like for a chest full of goodies to help you on your way to supreme dominance over your enemies!
